Sparrow's Forecasts - General Tendencies
Astrology Synopsis for March 2018
No doubt the big event for March will be Mercury retrograde beginning on March 22nd and ending on April 15th. Mercury retrograde is a time to stop any new projects and to review the things you've been doing over the past few months. Mercury retrograde can actually be rather positive, so long as you follow the rules and don't start anything new, including new relationships. This Mercury retrograde may get a little rough over the first week of April as he comes to a square with Mars and Saturn, but his retrograde should be quite typical in March. Stick to activities that begin with "re" during the retrograde, like repeat, review, rewind, reminisce, reconnect, and maybe even a little revenge.Daylight Saving Time Begins
Daylight Saving Time begins on Sunday, March 11th, and Venus and Mercury will be working on a square with Saturn around that time. The Monday after Daylight Saving Time begins is when all the accidents happen with people trying to start their day one hour earlier, and Venus, Mercury and Saturn could make it even more difficult. Mercury won't have started his retrograde yet, but he will have passed his greatest eastern elongation point, meaning he is slowing down and preparing for retrograde. (The greatest eastern elongation point is where Mercury gets to his highest point in the western sky. You should be able to see him looking west just after sundown.) Be very, very careful the first few days after Daylight Saving Time begins. Accidents and other big problems are likely. Two Full Moons in March
Just like January, we will have two Full Moons this month, one on March 1st in Virgo, and the second on March 31st in Taurus. The second Full Moon will be called a "Blue Moon" by many, especially meteorologists. There is a debate over when a Full Moon is actually Blue. Some say it's when we have a second Full Moon in the same month (like this month). Others say it's when we have two Full Moons in the same sign, which does occur occasionally. And the third opinion is that it is the fourth Full Moon of a season (Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter). Our first Full Moon on March 1st will be at an opposition with Neptune, which could really screw-up our intuitions. The second Full Moon will be at an opposition with Mercury and at a square with Saturn and Mars. This could make it difficult to deal with any kind of details, and arguments are likely to abound. Our New Moon this month will be on St. Patrick's Day in the sign of Pisces, and this could bring new beginnings, especially when it comes to helping the less fortunate.Spring Holidays
The last thing to look at for March is all the Spring holidays happening this month. March 1st is the Jewish holiday, Purim. Then comes St. Patrick's Day on the 17th. The first day of Spring which is also the day the Sun enters Aries, International Astrology Day, and the ancient holiday called Ostara happens on March 20th this year. Palm Sunday is March 25th. Good Friday will land on March 30th, and Passover begins with the Blue Full Moon on March 31st. After the cold, bitter Winter that many of us have endured, we need a few extra holidays to remind us to celebrate life!April
Mars will be busy aspecting Saturn, Neptune, Jupiter, and Pluto next month, and that could increase our energy and our imaginations. Jupiter and Pluto will be holding a sextile (positive angle) throughout the month increasing our spiritual awareness. Saturn and Pluto will both turn retrograde in April, but Mercury will be turning direct. Check back next month to find out more.
