Direct Station When a planet is at the point where it is changing from a backwards (retrograde) motion back to a forward motion, it is said to be at direct station. Direct station is more powerful than retrograde station, and is usually the most difficult time of the whole retrograde process. The length of time that a direct station will affect us depends on the orbit of the planet. Fast inner planets like Mercury will affect us about 1 day before and after it's direct station. But, a slow outer planet like Saturn will affect us for about 5 days before and after it's direct station.
