Retrograde Station When a planet is at the point where it is changing from a forward motion to a backward (retrograde) motion, it is said to be at retrograde station. It appears to be holding still and figuratively burning a hold in the zodiac. A few days before and after a planet's retrograde station, situations governed by that planet could become difficult. The length of time that a retrograde station will affect us depends on the orbit of the planet. Fast inner planets like Mercury will affect us about 1 day before and after it's retrograde station. But, a slow outer planet like Saturn will affect us for about 5 days before and after it's retrograde station.
